After borrowing a pen and a piece of paper from some friendly neighboring protestors, I created a tiny banner for Plucky to wave. The banner said, as loud as a tiny banner can, “No more fat cats!” and Plucky and I meant it with all our hearts. As I fastened Plucky to the railings amongst all the other banners, snapped a photo, and sent out the image via my social media, I felt a part of something much bigger, much braver and, egad, really rather political. It wasn’t about dusty balding white men in boardrooms or stony-faced placard pointers at all. It was about all of us—our books, our art, our everyday lives. Activism and craftivism were about making something that made a difference, even a very small difference. At this point, I was distracted from my woolly banner-waving rodent by a thunderous realization: I had been making something that made a difference with every single yarnstorm I had ever done (followed by the rather smaller realization that I needed a cup of tea and a sit-down right away).
